No One Can “Make You” Feel Anything

It’s fairly often that I hear people say things like, “She made me feel horrible.” or “He makes me feel bad about myself.”
Though we are powerful creators, know that we are co-creators, and cannot control everything in our outer environment, or other people.
People may come into your lane and extend their thoughts, ideas, feelings, and energy into yours, but you are the gatekeeper. You can decide what you allow in, how you wish to interpret it, and what you want to accept as your identity.
Someone can call you a stupid pig and it only sticks if YOU believe it. Someone can hand you a gift-wrapped box dripping with black tar, and you don’t have to take it within yourself. You can put your hands out in front of you and say, “no thanks!”
You are the steward of your internal space.
Some people are told all their lives that they are beautiful and they don’t believe it. Others are told from a young age that they will never amount to anything, and they go on to prove everybody wrong. Because it’s not what others say to you, it’s what you believe about yourself that matters. What do you think is true?
You can either digest and assimilate what others offer you or you can decide what is true for you. And if that’s the case, why not think the best of yourself and allow yourself some freaking grace to be beautifully human.
And while you’re at it, why not do some excavating and look for those beliefs and definitions that no longer define who you want to be, and release them? It really takes nothing more than a strong definitive choice and it is done. Those things will stop reflecting your external reality.
Then we can look at the people “doing things to us”, from the point of view that they are actually helping us find those beliefs and definitions within ourselves that are no longer congruent with how we want to be.
Every experience like this shows you where you are still not free.
And through this new lens of understanding, you can become free – by zooming in on those beliefs and definitions and releasing them. They are not you anyway.
You get to decide who you are and what you’re worth. You get to allow or disallow the projections of others to become you. Choose wisely, my friends. And remember, you are a divine being of infinite consciousness made of the same stuff that makes up universes, so how does it get better than that anyway?!
